The following is a summary of our meeting, using abridged notes from the official minutes they are not intended to be a replacement of those minutes, a full copy of the minutes are available from the group Secretary.

Meeting held on Thursday, 6th June 2013 at Clevedon Sailing Club

PRESENT: Jackie Tate (Chair),  Stewart Edwards,  Frank Jacobs, Alan Cotton, Paul Trowbridge, Simon Osborn, Judith James



FINANCES/GRANTS – No expenses reported – balance as of 6/6/13 – £311.24. Outstanding – one cheque to be cleared and one credit.

RIVER CLEANING – Bike in river by trash screen, recovered by council, Steve – Blockage in the Norther Way culvert – cleared by EA. Watercress to be cleared by spraying, when licence granted to EA. Southern Way bridge to be cleared after nesting season.

EQUIPMENT – No report

FOOTPATHS/WALKS – Alex shown by Stewart how the tilting weir worked at Cooks Clyst

LEVELS AND FLOW – See entry under ‘the river’ section of the web page for details

TOWN SECTION – 15th April – James Shopland and Stewart cleared shuttering, traffic cone and For Sale board from Shopland’s culvert. 26th May – Kenn Road trash screen cleared by NSC following Stewart’s request.


  1. Trevor’s Section – No report
  2. Bernard’s Section – Dead sheep upstream from motorway culvert removed by EA
  3. Stewart’s Section – Ducklings and Moorhens survived this year
  4. Frank’s Section – Swans nesting near Southern Way bridge returned to Strode Road – question over young. Litter bins in place but not being emptied by contractors

PUBLICITY – Noting to report

WEBSITE – Awaiting input from Stewart following the additions of pictures

ANY OTHER BUSINESS -“How did the Blind Yeo get its name?” – Frank has archive material.
